Hypnotherapy

Even though hypnosis is recognized as the mother of all later streams in psychotherapy, it took many years until modern Western medicine found ways to use hypnosis systematically as a healing method. Especially one American psychiatrist, Dr. Milton H. Erickson (1901-1980), had an incredible impact on the development of hypnosis, which was used as a healing method by mankind for at least 3000 years, towards a modern, clinical psychotherapy treatment. This is the reason why many modern hypnotherapists directly or indirectly refer to Dr. Erickson.

Today, hypnosis is a modern approach to psychotherapy

In the beginning of 2006, the scientific advisory committee "Psychotherapy" finally acknowledged hypnosis as a scientific psychotherapy method in Germany. The German Milton Erickson Society worked intensely towards this outcome for many years, and provides a lot of useful scientific information. If you are not sure whether hypnosis can help you with your issue, please do not hesitate to call me or send me a message.

Hypnotherapy can do more than help you lose weight, stop smoking or overcome sleeping problems

The main application areas of hypnosis are:

  • Fears / phobias (fear of certain objects, animals or situations; fear of flying, of your dentist, of heights, spiders etc.)
  • Over-eating and other eating disorders (e.g. anorexia, bulimia)
  • Stopping smoking
  • Relaxation, alleviating stress and enhancing quality of sleep
  • Stress disorders, panic attacks, depression, nervousness
  • Grieving and dealing with abusive past experiences
  • Psychosomatic problems (e.g. migraines, sleeping disorders, allergies, neurodermatitis)
  • Acute (e.g. giving birth, operations, dental treatment) and chronic pain
  • Improvement in performance and enhancement of concentration and learning (e.g. in sports, exams, public speaking, confidence with others)
  • Sexual problems which have no organic cause (e.g. premature ejaculation, impotence)

Many people also use hypnosis as a practical and effective method of self-relaxation, in a similar manner to autogenic training, progressive muscle relaxation or Yoga.

Hypnosis can enable you to accomplish the following

Hypnosis is an effective way to communicate with the processes in your mind and body that are typically not influenced by your conscious willpower.

  • Hypnosis relaxes your body while you are totally aware of what is happening around you
  • Hypnosis calms your breathing, metabolism, heart beat and blood pressure
  • Hypnosis has a very positive impact on typical stress hormones in your blood (Noradrenaline and Cortisol)
  • Hypnosis improves the function of your immune system (as opposed to stress which does the opposite)
  • Hypnosis supports you to change your reactions to external stimuli
  • Hypnosis helps you to learn more effectively and enhance your ability to concentrate
  • Hypnosis allows the subconscious part of your mind positive expression in many ways for your well being

Many people step into a completely exciting new world when they are having their first hypnosis experience, and continue to use hypnosis to better their lives in so many areas.
